Questions.
Short answers about Cobble.
Which sites does it work with?
Cobble uses yt-dlp, so it works with the sites yt-dlp supports. When a site changes, press Update in Settings to get the latest yt-dlp.
Does it need an account?
No. Paste a link and download.
Where do my files go?
To the folder shown in Settings. Change it any time. Cobble runs on your PC and saves nothing anywhere else.
What does the After Effects ready preset do?
It saves H.264 video and AAC audio in an MP4. If a track already matches, Cobble copies it instead of re-encoding.
Can I shrink a file I already have?
Yes. Compress writes an H.264 or H.265 MP4 at Small, Medium or High quality, with an optional maximum height.
Can I cancel a download?
Yes. Press Cancel on the running job.
A site stopped working. What now?
Open Settings and press Update to get the latest yt-dlp. Sites change often, and yt-dlp follows them.
Is there a Mac or Linux version?
Not yet. Cobble is Windows only for now.
Is the source available?
Yes. The code is public at github.com/Kayzlawg/cobble.
Is it legal to download videos?
Only download content you own or have permission to use, and follow the terms of the sites you download from.
