Privacy.

Cobble runs on your PC and does not collect your data.

The short version

The Cobble app has no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no crash reporting. Nothing about you or your downloads is sent to us, because there is no server to send it to.

What the app stores on your PC

  • Settings, such as your download folder.
  • History: the title, format, size, date and file location of each finished download.
  • The files you download, in the folder you choose.

All of this stays on your computer. Remove an item from History inside the app, or delete the app's data folder, to erase it.

What the app connects to

When you paste a link, Cobble uses yt-dlp to contact the site that link points to, to read its details and download the file. That site sees your IP address and handles it under its own privacy policy.

When you press Update in Settings, yt-dlp checks for and downloads a newer version of itself from its release host, which is GitHub.

Cobble makes no other network connections.

This website

The website has no cookies, analytics or ads. To display, it loads a few things from other providers, who receive your IP address and browser details under their own policies:

  • Fonts from Google Fonts.
  • On the home page, a preview thumbnail from YouTube's image servers.
  • The star count in the header, from the GitHub API. Your browser keeps that number for an hour so it asks less often.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
